Meet Your Teacher

Hello, I’m Gaia

I started yoga when I was 18 and as a young person found it immensely beneficial. I had been through an eating disorder and struggled with my digestive system most of my life. I had a difficult childhood and challenging early years as a young adult meant anxiety was part of my profile and struggled to find myself initially.

My twenties journey was soul searching and reaching out for answers to life’s many questions. Through all this time I continued to practise yoga and to feel its benefit. My travels took me to the USA as a writer for an Australian ski magazine. My skiing skills were enhanced by my yoga practise and its emphasis on balance. Arriving in the UK I studied oriental medicine and philosophy. I qualified in Shiatsu massage, macrobiotic nutrition and studied Zen Yoga.

I met my husband in the UK and we were married in 1985. We have four adult children. Throughout my pregnancies I continued to practise yoga and found it hugely beneficial. I was motivated to pass on these experiences so I decided to qualify professionally which I did in 2000.

As part of my teaching practice I have been active in health clubs since I qualified. The varied nature of class abilities resulted in my developing a number of programmes planned to give my students an encouraging way to practise and gradually improve in their flexibility, strength and mobility.

Teaching has been a passion for me throughout these years and during the Covid lockdowns I decided that I could reach and help more people through these difficult times with an online presence. The benefit to students has been so encouraging I’ve continued to offer these classes which can be booked through this website.
